A Day of Blast

-Today was a day of multitudinal events-the group was up early as usual and started into our new workday full of vigor.
-Some of us went to the river to pick up rocks as usual(we have picked up so many rocks I feel rocked) these today we are using to do some repair work in the driveway here at Hosanna house! Not far into our day a little lady appeared that wanted to sell us baskets-we bought quite a few from her! It was now raining and she was about to return home as we were about to go on another rock picking episode.I(Fonda)was driving so we took her most of her trip home about 18 miles to her place. As I was talking to her she told me she had 13 children and they were all dead. Some of her grandchildren lived with her and in fact 1 of her grandaughers had accompantied her on his trip! Her name is Patricia and she was 63 years old. She looked at my watch and stated whe would like to have a watch the next time I came to Belize. She spoke Mayan and English! Experiences like this don't just happen they are very unique! She looked old, and battered but her heart was precious and she hugged me so close when we stopped to let her out!She told me she was making baskets and selling them so she could buy her grandaughter some books to read.
Our 3 new little arrivals were all doing well except the girl. She continues to mostly cry today, and make inappropriate noises. She fianally took her arm down and you could see where she had been hit up beside her face. The little boy who is 2Yo had a big gash under his chin, which last night after he had arrived they placed a bandaide on it. Tonight I actually closed the wound it appeared approx. 48 h old. they said the mother had caused this hugh gash. Tonight the little girl actually talked a little to me but she continued to lay in her bed seemingly to be very afraid of the other children and of the staff.I think she will come around.
-Mike and Robert worked on finishing plumbing jobs and putting together a gate that was needed for the back of the property wall around the back yard.Things are really coming together and it's really neat to see the growth of a project from one small team, in addition to many teams who have come before us and the many who will follow.
-Rick and Don mostly worked at the church site at the bottom of the hill.
-Carole continues to make and plan wonderful meals for us!We are eating really well.
-Tomorrow we are working half a day and finishing up loose ends I'm excited to witness all the growth!
-God has continued to Bless this ministry at Hosanna House and tonight we felt a really special closeness to the children as we sat around singing with them-you really have to come and experience it firsthand.Signing off for tonight your hostess Fonda Cassidy for the blog
